Why Learn French? "To be acquainted with the French tongue is become a part of polite education and, to a man who has any idea of mixing in a large circle, absolutely necessary." George Washington, (in a letter writen in 1771 to the headmaster of the school where his stepson, Jacky Custis, was enrolled). Who are we to disagree?
VISIT CANADA brought its first group of French students and their teachers to Montreal in 1985, and has introduced tens of thousands more students to the second largest French-speaking city in the world since then.
Each of these visits to Montreal is lots of fun, but any VISIT CANADA tour is, first and foremost, an educational experience.
Each of our itineraries provides ample time for students to read, listen to, and speak French with native francophones, from the moment they arrive at the airport or train station. For groups arriving by bus, the experience begins at the Quebec border where signage is in English and French, but English quickly disappears in interior Quebec where English signs are rare, and all signs, by law, must be predominantly French. And, our experienced, bilingual, native francophone guides will be happy to conduct your trip in all French, all English or any combination of the two.
Students quickly learn that they are able to understand French spoken in the real world, by persons other than their teachers. This validates and reinforces what they have been learning at school and teaches the students that the study of French is a practical tool, and much more than an academic exercise.
We offer trips to Montreal (some in conjunction with trips to Quebec City as well) in the summer, fall, winter and spring.
Each VISIT CANADA trip is priced individually. Our motorcoach trips originate in school parking lots in hundreds of large and small communities throughout the Northeast, the Mid-Atlantic region and the Midwest that are served by scores of bus charter operators, and it is just not possible to price more than a hundred different trips from a thousand different communities in advance.
However, prices range generally from about $475 to $575 for a three-day motorcoach trip and from about $625 to $750 for a four-day trip (that is, from about $175 to $200 per day) and roughly $175 to $200 per day plus airfare for groups traveling by air.
For schools traveling to Montreal and Quebec City by motorcoach, prices depend, more than anything else, upon bus charter costs from each school parking lot, and the number of students sharing those costs, and those prices go up and down as the number of paid participants go down and up.
Our prices include the following: transportation by chartered motorcoach, very nice hotel accommodations, breakfasts and dinners daily, comprehensive trip cancellation and medical insurance, all admissions, the services of licensed professional guides throughout each day, and dedicated security guards in the hotels overnight.
There are never any registration or enrollment fees, and no hidden charges.
Your trip your own, and unless you arrange to travel with another nearby school.
