Four-Day
Montréal by Train
|
| Day One | Wednesday or Thursday |
Depart Windsor or Sarnia on an early VIA Rail train to Toronto, connecting to a midday train to Montréal. Arrive at Gare Centrale in downtown Montréal between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm, meet your VISIT CANADA escort. You will then walk either upstairs, or across the street, to the Hotel Queen Elizabeth, or the Marriott Château Champlain, where you will check into your rooms and freshen up. Reassemble in the lobby and walk (above or under ground) to a late dinner at La Cage aux Sports, a colorful sports restaurant located within the nearby Molson Center, the new home of the Montréal Canadiens. After dinner, you will walk back to the hotel. Overnight security begins at 10:00 pm. |

| Day Two: | Thursday or Friday |
| 8:00 am | Meet your guide in the lobby, then depart for Eggspectation, a trendy new bistro-style café in Old Montréal that has become quite popular for it’s imaginative breakfast menu and eclectic architecture. |
| 9:30 am | After breakfast, you'll walk to the beautiful Musée d'archéologie et d'histoire de Montréal, where you will descend into centuries-old ruins dating back to the early days of the original French colony. |
| 11:00 am | Walk next door to Notre Dame Basilica, the "Jewel of Montréal," where you'll have a tour that you may never forget of the most beautiful church in all the Americas. |
| 11:45 am | After your tour, you'll walk to nearby Place Jacques Cartier, a gathering place for Montréalers and visitors in the heart of Old Montréal. There you'll have lunch in one of the many sidewalk cafés. |
| 1:30 pm | Reassemble under the Nelson Monument, from which you will begin your own guided exploration of Montréal and its rich history, using VISIT CANADA's illustrated Parcours Découverte. |
| 2:15 pm | During your treasure hunt, you will pause for a guided tour at the Chateau Ramezay, the home of the eleventh governor of New France and headquarters of the occupying American Army during the eight months that the American Flag flew over Montréal in 1775 and 1776. |
| 3:30 pm | The Treasure Hunt will end at Notre Dame Basilica, then return to the hotel to freshen up and dress for dinner. |
| 5:45 pm | Walk or take the Metro back to Old Montréal, where you’ll have dinner amidst the centuries-old stone walls and hand-hewn beams of the Restaurant du Vieux Port. |
| 7:15 pm | After dinner, walk to the King Edward Pier for a viewing of a very powerful IMAX Theatre film. |
| 9:30 pm | After the film, return to the hotel by Metro. Evening security begins at 10:00 pm. |
| Day Three: | Friday or Saturday |
| 8:00 am | Reassemble in the hotel lobby, then walk to breakfast at the Mövenpick Marché Restaurant at Place Ville Marie. During a very unique breakfast experience, you can choose from custom omelets, Belgian waffles, Swiss Rostis and fresh pressed juices among many other items at the brand new market-style eatery. |
| 9:30 am | After breakfast, walk to the McGill Metro station and depart for Montréal's Biodôme and Parc Olympique. |
| 10:00 am | You will pause briefly outside the Biodôme for a group photograph, then walk down a 500-meter Nature Path where, in a matter of minutes, you will visit the four major natural environments found at the North and South Poles and in North, Central, and South America. |
| 11:30 am | Walk next door to the Olympic Stadium, where you will ascend 556 feet on the funiculaire to the top of the world's tallest inclined tower. |
| 1:00 pm | After lunch on your own in the Biodôme Cafeteria, walk to the Viau Metro station for another ride on the subway back to Old Montréal, then walk to the nearby Centre des Sciences de Montréal. There, you will spend the early afternoon exploring its dozens of interactive science exhibits before returning to the hotel, at about 3:30pm, to freshen up and dress casually for dinner. |
| 5:00 pm | Depart by bus for La Sucrerie de la Montagne for an evening of French-Canadian folklore including a ride on a wagon pulled by two Belgian horses, an all-you-can-eat lumberjack dinner and traditional music and folk dancing. You’ll return to the hotel at about 9:30pm. |
| 10:30 pm | Security service begins at 10:30 pm. |
| Day Four: | Saturday or Sunday |
| 7:30 am | Breakfast in the hotel, then check out of your rooms and bring your bags to the lobby. |
| 8:30 am | Walk downstairs or next door to Gare Centrale and check in with VIA Rail. Board an early VIA Rail Train to Toronto, connecting to an early afternoon train to Windsor or Sarnia. Arrive in Windsor or Sarnia in the early evening. |
