Five-Day Montréal and Québec
City by Air
|
| Day One | Tuesday or Wednesday |
| 1:00 pm | Arrive at Montréal’s Dorval Airport in the early afternoon and meet your VISIT CANADA escort as you exit the Customs and Immigration area. |
| 1:30 pm | Board your chartered motorcoach and depart on a city sightseeing tour that will end at the deluxe Wyndham Montréal Hotel or the Hotel Queen Elizabeth in downtown Montréal. |
| 3:00 pm | Arrive at your hotel, check in and freshen up. |
| 4:00 pm | Meet your guide in the lobby then depart on a walking orientation tour of Complexe Desjardins or Place Ville Marie. |
| 4:30 pm | After your walking tour, break into your subgroups, then you’ll be free for an hour to practice your French in the Underground City. |
| 7:00 pm | Meet your bus and transfer a medieval-style banquet set in 17th Century New France. You and your classmates will be the guests of the Governor of New France, and if you're not careful, you might have to sing for your supper! |
| 9:30 pm | After the banquet, you’ll return to the hotel. Evening security begins at 10:30pm. |
| Day Two: | Wednesday or Thursday |
| 8:00 am | Walk to breakfast at Eggspectation, a trendy new bistro-style café in Old Montréal that has become quite popular, as much for it’s imaginative breakfast menu as for its unique and eclectic decor. |
| 9:30 am | After breakfast, you'll walk to the beautiful Musée d'archéologie et d'histoire de Montréal, where you will descend into centuries-old ruins dating back to the early days of the original French colony. |
| 11:00 am | Walk next to the Notre Dame Basilica, the Jewell of Montréal, for a tour of one of the most beautiful churches in all the Americas. |
| 11:45 am | Walk to the Place d’Armes Metro station and take the Metro to Place Montréal Trust where you will have lunch on your own in la Ville Souterraine. |
| 1:30 pm | Meet at the foot of the fountain, then walk to the McGill Metro station and take the Metro to the Parc Olympique and the Biodôme de Montréal. |
| 2:00 pm | Upon arrival at the Biodôme, you will walk down a 500-meter Nature Path and, in a matter of minutes, you'll go from a hot and moist tropical rain forest to the Arctic. During your tour you will visit the four major natural environments found in South, Central, and North America and at the North and South poles and you will see 4000 animals from 200 species, including penguins, parrots, puffins and piranhas, beavers, bats, and ducks, alligators, otters, and monkeys, and hundreds of others. |
| 3:00 pm | After your Biodôme visit you will ascend 556 feet on the funiculaire to the top of the world's tallest inclined tower for a panoramic, 50-mile view of Montréal, the St. Lawrence Seaway and the surrounding countryside. On a clear day you can see all the way to the Green Mountains of Vermont and the Adirondack Mountains of New York. |
| 4:00 pm | Return to the hotel by Metro at about 4:00 pm. |
| 5:45 pm | Reassemble in the lobby, then walk to dinner amidst centuries-old stone walls and hand-hewn beams at the Restaurant du Vieux Port in the heart of Old Montréal. |
| 7:15 pm | After dinner, walk to the King Edward Pier for a viewing of a very powerful IMAX Theatre film on a seven-story-high screen with forty speakers that will virtually fold you into the action. |
| 9:30 pm | You’ll return to the hotel at about 9:30pm. Evening security begins at 10:00 pm. |
| Day Three: | Thursday or Friday |
| 8:00 am | Breakfast in the hotel, then bring your bags to the lobby and place them on the bus between 9:15 and 9:30 am. |
| 9:30 am | Depart for Québec City. |
| 12:00 pm | Arrive in Québec and meet your local escort in front of the historic Château Frontenac. You will walk with your escort to the Quartier Petit Champlain, and begin your Québec City visit with lunch on your own in the oldest part of the city, where the cobblestone streets and greystone buildings date to the 1600s. |
| 1:30 pm | Meet the bus in front of the Château and begin a city sight-seeing tour. The tour will end at about 3:30pm at your hotel, where you will check in and freshen up. |
| 5:45 pm | Meet your guide in the lobby, then walk or transfer to dinner at the Restaurant D'Orsay. |
| 7:15 pm | After dinner you will walk or transfer to the National Battlefields Commission’s Maison de la Découverte for an interactive lesson about the history of Québec, from the French Regime through the end of the Second World War. Your day will end with a fascinating lesson about warfare in the time of Generals Wolfe and Montcalm. |
| 9:30 pm | Walk or transfer back to the hotel. |
| 10:00 pm | Security services begin at 10:00 pm. |
| Day Four: | Friday or Saturday |
| 8:00 am | Meet your guide in the hotel lobby, then walk or transfer to the Grande Allée (the Champs-Elysées of Québec) for a breakfast of stuffed Brittany crêpes (served by waiters and waitresses in authentic costumes of the region). |
| 9:30 am | After breakfast, walk or transfer back to the Château Frontenac where you’ll assemble for a 9:45am group photograph on the Promenade des Gouverneurs. |
| 10:00 am | Meet the bus in front of the Château and depart for a visit to the Old Port of Québec Interpretation Centre featuring very well-planned exhibits on the logging and shipbuilding industries, the lifeblood of 19th century Québec. While you're there, you can operate a working capstan or climb the rigging of an old sailing ship, and you'll learn the Legend of the Flying Canoe. |
| 11:15 am | Walk or transfer into the Quartier Latin where you’ll free for lunch on your own on rue St-Jean. |
| 1:45 pm | Meet your bus and depart for a visit to the magnificent Basilique Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, renowned for its enormous pro-portions and superb stained glass windows. |
| 3:00 pm | Depart for the Parc de la Chutes Montmorency, where the first battle between Generals Wolfe and Montcalm took place during the epochal summer of 1759. Upon arrival at the falls, you will walk across a footbridge that crosses directly over the top of the 83-meter high falls, then down a 250-foot staircase that's so close to the face of the falls, you'll feel the mist. |
| 3:30 pm | Meet the bus and return to your hotel to freshen up and dress for dinner and an evening on the Saint Lawrence. |
| 4:30 pm | Reassemble in the lobby and transfer to the Loews le Concorde hotel where you will ascend to the 29th floor for dinner in its revolving rooftop restaurant, L'Astral. |
| 6:30 pm | After dinner, walk to the lower city and board the M/V Louis Jolliet for a two-hour dance cruise on the Saint Lawrence River. You'll never forget the breathtaking views of the Québec City skyline by night as you meet and mix with other Canadian and American students on the largest excursion boat in Canada. |
| 10:00 pm | Meet the bus and return to the hotel. Evening security guard services begin at 10:15 pm. |
| Day Five: | Saturday or Sunday |
| 8:00 am | Breakfast in the hotel, then check out and place your bags on the bus between 9:00 am and 9:15 am. |
| 9:15 am | Depart for Montréal. |
| 12:00 pm | Arrive at Montréal’s Dorval Airport and check in at about noon. Depart on an early afternoon flight back to the United States. |

In order to more specifically match our program to your group’s budget, we can operate this trip using three categories of hotels. Occasionally, we may need to mix hotels in two categories. They are listed below. Additionally, based on availability, we may occasionally need to substitute some of the following breakfasts and/or dinners, as well as activities, in Montréal and Québec City. We consider all of these choices equivalent. |
